where oh where!

In the beginning, I had to decide what I want property for.
  • Do I want to live in the city?
  • Do I want to live in the country?
From City Farmer News

For me, that was a no-brainer.  The sounds of traffic are not pleasant to me.  You may think I have lost my mind but if you are not a city dweller by choice, you will understand I would rather bathe a skunked dog than to hear tires on asphalt or sirens wailing thru town.  Soooo, that was an easy one!

Oh!  If you don't know, you bathe a dog in peroxide and baking soda after the skunk encounter. Wikihow Deskunk Your Dog

My next step was to determine "how far out" of the city do I want to be?  There are houses that I adore but the criteria has to work.  Let's say it only takes 5 minutes to make "the quick trip", then I am too close to the blip-in-the-road but I sure don't want to be 30 minutes away.

  • The quick trip is important.  Hmmmm, how long will it take to drive to the local little store to pick up a gallon of milk or an ice cream bar?   ...forget the milk!  Let's make an ice-cream run!!!
  • Trips to town or the city, these may take longer and if so, how far are you willing to drive?  15 minutes? 20 minutes? an hour?  some are even willing to be 2+ hours from city shopping.  Are you?  It may sound romantic in the beginning but think about your lifestyle.  Will that really work for you?
  • How close is the doctor/hospital?  This is extremely important to many people.  If it is, factor it into your where oh where! part of the plan.
Thinking about moving?  Take the time to think about what is important.  This step is probably the most important one for me.  Is it for you?

where oh where!  this is my most important step.
